MAIN LUUBC SITE
Leeds University Union Boat Club (LUUBC) has been at the forefront of sport at Leeds University for 100 years. It is the biggest mixed gender sporting club in the University, with over 150 members this academic year. Recent competitive successes have been a result of the enthusiasm and commitment of all of its members.
No matter what your experience level, the boat club caters for your needs. All are welcome; from beginners who are just taking up rowing, to seasoned rowers wanting to continue rowing competitively at the highest standard available to Universities. LUU Boat Club is one of the Leeds Gryphons teams, working to develop top-class sports clubs at the University of Leeds. Leeds competes at BUCS affiliated races and at events from small heads and regattas such as Durham and Rutherford to the pinnacle of the rowing season: Henley Royal Regatta.
Along with sweep-oar rowing, the club also trains and competes in sculling boats for both men and women within the club.
Some of our members not wanting to row competitively but still eager to achieve the fitness and strength of a rower take advantage of the fantastic facilities and equipment LUU Boat Club has at its disposal. Recreational members have access to our circuit sessions twice a week as well as joining in with the coached weights and rowing machine sessions.
The effort and dedication needed to succeed at this sport is matched only by our love of partying. Socially, rowing is unmatched. Our social secretary always endeavours to find the best offers and venues in Leeds, with the age old phrase of “work hard, play hard” always upheld!
