2011-2012 TRIALS
Thank you for everyone who came to the trials this weekend, below is the list of players who made one of our five teams.
ORIENTATION is on Wednesday from 2pm at Boddington halls playing fields (where your trials were). It is very important that you make this as you will be told what team you will be in and get an opportunity to meet your team mates. Each team will then play each other to gauge whether the teams are right so please BRING FULL PLAYING KIT (including shinpads).
After we will be heading out into Headingly for food which is being laid on for us at Citrus, after which will head to bar risa where we have our own section, then onto hopefully a very good night out so bring some clothes to go out in. If you live at bod you can quickly get changed otherwise we can either lock your bags in the changing room or left at a lads house in headingly.

About Our Club
Leeds University Union Mens Association Football Club is open to all Leeds University Students. It competes in the British University and College Sports League as well as the local NUL league. The combination of our top-class facilities and comprehensive coaching infrastructure makes the University one of the top footballing institutions in the country. Shown by the club being the first ever University of Leeds team to win the BUCS Northern Premier League. (The heighest level possible).
The Club currently run 5 teams. The 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th teams play on a wednesday in the BUCS league, with the 5th team, the development squad, competing in the Universities own intramureal league. The 2nd,3rd and 4th team also play on a saturday in the NUL league.
The develpoment team was set up in the 2009/2010 season to help the development of players who missed out on making the first 4 squads. It allows easy progression through the club to help players achieve their full potetial. Also the club recognises that the trials held are not always a complete reflection of a players ability and the development squad helps pick up these players who may have been missed. Last year a player who started off in the development squad was playing with the 1st team by the end of the season.
Coaching
We have a fantastic team of coaches helping players to develop.
Head Coach – Ian Burchnall
Ian works with Bradford City FC and is the Team Manager for the BUCS Northern Universities squad. Ian has an impressive coaching team working with him including former Sheffield Utd professional Brian Deane, and Technical Director to MLS side San Jose Earthquakes, Prof. Bill Gerrard.
Second Team Coach – Phil Riely
Phil also works with Bradford City FC and manages the 2nd team squad. He brings his experience to the club and helped the 2nd team win the BUCS Northern 3A league in 2009/2010 season.
Facilities
The Men’s Football Club is based at our flagship outdoor facilities at Weetwood. Training takes place on our floodlit 3G rubber crumb pitch, with matches being played on either the grass pitch adjacent to the 3G or at the Boddington playing fields.
From Septermber 2010, all members of the football club will have access to the gryphons gym as well as excellent facilities on campas,
