Run Leeds Students is specifically aimed at those who are just starting out as runners, or returning after a break. With qualified Run Leaders, we can cater for a variety of levels of fitness, offering a safe and friendly environment for all runners to improve their fitness and progress in their running.
Now in its second year, Run Leeds Students is open to students and staff from any of the Univeristies and colleges in Leeds. Under the guidance of LUUCCC Coach Greg Hull and CiRF (Coach in Running Fitness) Jocelyn Payne, progressive and supportive running programmes are delivered throughout the year, and can be tailored to the needs of the individual, whether your goal is to progress to the Cross-Country or Athletics Club, complete a parkrun without stopping, or just to run with like-minded company.
As well as CiRF Jocelyn, RLS has three LiRF (Leader in Running Fitness) qualified leaders: Rachel Friend, Becky Hilton and Sarah Marsden. We are also joined on Wednesdays by LiRFs from Leeds Metropolitan Universit.
Run Leeds Students sessions are as follows:
Monday 6pm (Cromer Terrace) Steady 2 mile run/jog
Monday 6.30pm (Cromer Terrace) Steady 3 mile run/jog
Tuesday 12.30pm Leeds Met. Headingley Campus Introduction to the track or steady run (TBC)
Wednesday 6pm (Cromer Terrace) Introduction to hills/intervals
Saturday 8.45am in Hyde Park Leeds parkrun (timed 5k)
RLS members also have the option to attend LUUCCC sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to get a taster for if they intend to ‘move up’ to Cross Country in the future. The group is affiliated to Run England, you can register for free at www.runengland.org For details and to register for Leeds parkrun, visit www.parkrun.org.uk For any other information, contact Jocelyn at firstname.lastname@example.org
