23 November 2013: European Cross Country Championship Trials – Liverpool
24 November 2013: Peco XC League Race 1 – Temple Newsam. A great series of cross-country races, open to all abilities. You can compete in as many as you want, and it’s the perfect chance to gain more experience competing. More information can be found here
7 December 2013: LEEDS RELAYS – THE BIG ONE! This is where we show the other universities how it’s done. 3.2km relay route of the university’s cross country course at Bodington Hall, it has ups, downs, turns and straights. The running is only half of the race – the beer racing at the after party is every bit as competitive.
11 December 2013: The annual club Christmas Dinner. This year it’s being held at The Arc.
15 December 2013: Peco XC League Race 2 – Golden Acre Park Leeds
4 January 2014: Yorkshire County Cross Country championships – Ripon
12 January 2014: Peco XC League Race 3 – Middleton Park
18 January 2014: Cross country varsity - Last year’s entries included the Brownlee brothers, so the competition is tough at the sharp end but this really is a race for all abilities. All proceeds to the Donkey Sanctuary. Course map available here
25 January 2014: Northern Cross Country Championships – Knowsley
1 February 2014: Cross country BUCS, Stirling - BUCS is the national university championship race which attracts over 1000 students. This is the one that the long hard training over the winter is geared towards.
February 2014: Hyde Park Relays – London
16 February 2014: Peco XC League Race 4 – Danefield Country Park
22 February 2014: National Cross Country Championships
1 March 2014: Doss Dinner
2 March 2014: Peco XC League Race 5 – Northcliffe Park, Shipley
22 March 2014: Ed Prickett (Nottingham Uni) Relays – Nottingham’s turn to host. This is a relay of just over 3km which is mainly on road with some path sections.
13 April 2014: London Marathon – The club gets one entry for this, which is drawn out the hat at the Christmas Dinner. There’s normally a few members of the club competing here, whether it’s their first marathon or they’re seasoned veterans!
18-20 April 2014: Isle of Man Easter Festival (NOT TO BE MISSED!) – we team up with our alumni club, Doss AC, for a fun packed weekend of racing and partying. Day 1 is a 10km road race, day 2 is a hill race followed by a pub crawl across the island and day 3 is a relay followed by the traditional football match against Manchester and after-party. This is the one that all of the unis go to. What else are you going to do this Easter?
